As many of you prob'ly know I'm a HUGE Andy Warhol fan.
Basically he sorta popped my art/illustration cherry when I read Popism in the 60's.
Anywhoo, I knew that the first building I lived in, in NYC (31 Union Square West),

was right next to the original Factory (
33 USW),
the same building that Valerie Solanas shot ol' Andy in.

I also thought it was pretty nifty that from my window I could see the next Factory (860 Broadway) on the north end of the park.
But a couple days ago I found out that the second building that I lived in,
Marlton House on 8th street was the same building Valerie had lived in.

In fact my apt was on the exact same floor...damnit if I could remember my room # , I would know if it was the same room (she was in 214).
Pretty wild wacky koinkydinky stuff. I wish I had known then what I know now. Woulda appreciated it a lot more.
That building had a lotta history in it...Kerouac stayed there, Lilian Gish,
Lenny Bruce lived there when he was being tried for obscenity, Mickey Rourke was there when he had a real face.

And back then I just thought it was nice to be so close to the Washington Square Park, The Scrap bar and Gray's Papaya.
